Podcast Production for Kids in Nigeria: How Children Can Start, Record, and Publish Their Own Podcast
June 13, 2026

Podcasting in Nigeria is growing fast. Nigerian podcasts about business, culture, technology, comedy, and education are attracting global audiences. Yet very few young Nigerians are producing them — because the skills are rarely taught. A teenager who knows how to produce a professional podcast has a skill that is genuinely rare and immediately valuable.
Beyond the business case, podcasting builds some of the most important communication skills a young person can have: clear thinking, organised speaking, active listening, and the confidence to share their voice with the world.
Children start by developing their podcast concept — topic, audience, format, episode structure, and show name. Nigerian students have created shows on topics including: secondary school life, African mythology, tech news for teenagers, and interviews with Nigerian entrepreneurs.
How to write a script that sounds natural when read aloud. How to conduct a compelling interview that draws out interesting answers. How to structure an episode so listeners stay engaged from start to finish.
Professional audio requires technique, not expensive equipment. Children learn how to record clean audio using a basic microphone or even their phone, how to manage echo, background noise, and room acoustics.
Using the free Audacity audio editor, children learn to cut, clean, arrange, and add music to their podcast episodes. The editing skills here overlap with our Video Editing course.
